Today we recognise International Women’s Day, a global moment to celebrate the achievements, resilience and contributions of women and girls in our communities and across the world.

Women play an extraordinary role in shaping our families, workplaces, communities and public life. From community volunteers and carers, to teachers, health professionals, business leaders and public servants — the impact of women is felt every single day.

This year’s theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” reminds us that while enormous progress has been made, there is still work to do to ensure that women and girls everywhere have equal opportunities, equal rights and equal access to justice.

Around the world many women still face barriers — whether through inequality, lack of access to education or support services, or discrimination that limits opportunities. International Women’s Day is a chance not only to celebrate achievements, but also to renew our commitment to fairness, respect and opportunity for everyone.

Closer to home, we are incredibly fortunate to have so many strong, inspiring women contributing to our local communities — in schools, businesses, charities, community groups and public services. Their dedication, leadership and compassion make an enormous difference to the lives of others.

👏 Today is a chance to say thank you.
Thank you to the women who support families, build communities, lead organisations and inspire the next generation.

💬 Let’s celebrate them together. If there’s a woman in your life or community who inspires you — whether it’s a family member, colleague, teacher, volunteer or friend — feel free to mention them in the comments and share your appreciation.
Happy International Women’s Day to all the incredible women and girls in our community. 🌸
