A huge congratulations to Kaz and Dee Hamilton, who have just been approved as foster carers here in Carmarthenshire. Their journey began quietly — simply supporting friends as a “spare pair of hands” — but spending time with children and young people opened a new chapter they never expected.

Their honesty shines through. This LGBTQ+ Adoption and Fostering Week (2–9 March), their story sits within a powerful and hopeful picture across Wales. New figures show 56 LGBTQ+ households are now fostering — a 30% rise — and 12.5% of those foster with Foster Wales Carmarthenshire.

Last year alone, LGBTQ+ foster carers here supported 17 local children, offering stability, understanding and a safe place to grow.Kaz and Dee, thank you for opening your home, your hearts, and your world to young people who need it.

Your warmth, courage and community spirit reflect the very best of Carmarthenshire.
