Empty properties can sometimes become more than just an eyesore — they can attract vandalism, anti-social behaviour and fall into serious disrepair over time. But with the right support, many of these buildings could instead become safer, protected and even brought back into positive community use.
A new partnership between Neighbourhood Watch and Ad Hoc Property Management is aiming to do exactly that by identifying long-term vacant buildings and helping owners explore practical ways to secure and reuse them.
How does it work?
If you know of a property that has stood empty for a long time, details can be submitted for review.
Ad Hoc may then contact the owner to discuss options such as:
• Improved security measures
• CCTV installation
• Property Guardians (vetted live-in occupants helping keep buildings safe and maintained)
• Temporary community-focused use opportunities
Keeping buildings occupied and cared for can help reduce anti-social behaviour while also creating safer, stronger and more connected neighbourhoods. If you are aware of a long-term empty property in our communities, you can find out more here:
