Extra Business Rates Support Announced for 2026–2027.

The Welsh Government has announced an extra package of rates relief to help pubs, restaurants, cafés, bars and live music venues right across Wales — including many here in our own community.

Here’s what it means: - Around 4,400 hospitality businesses will receive 15% off their rates bills next year.

This support aims to help businesses manage rising costs and the shift in consumer habits. Up to £8 million is being invested — using funding passed on by the UK Government, with additional Welsh Government funding to expand the number of businesses helped.

This comes on top of substantial existing support already in place: Almost half of pubs in Wales currently receive Small Business Rates Relief. Over a quarter pay no rates at all. Permanent Welsh Government reliefs are worth £250 million every year.

And there’s more: -

From April, the business rates multiplier will be reduced for the first time since 2010. £116 million in transitional relief will be available over the next two years to help businesses adjust to the latest revaluation.

Why this matters locally: -

Our hospitality sector isn’t just about food and drink — these are our gathering places, employers, community hubs and social lifelines. This support could make a real difference for many well-loved venues across our local area.Just thought it would be worth sharing.
