I often get asked about where local groups can find funding, so I thought it would be really useful to share this with anyone involved in community projects across Pembrey, Burry Port and wider Carmarthenshire. There are actually more funding opportunities out there than many people realise — including grants linked to local developments such as wind farms, as well as national and charitable funding streams.

A Really Useful couple of tools to Get Started... Funding Wales is a free online search platform designed specifically to help: -https://funding.cymru/enCommunity Foundations Wales: -https://communityfoundationwales.org.uk/Helping Community groups,

Charities, Social enterprises to find the funding they need. You can search hundreds of opportunities — from small local grants to larger funding for capital projects.

Why This Matters?

Since 1999, funding programmes like these have: -Awarded over £40 million to grassroots groups. Helped strengthen communities across Wales. Supported projects that make a real difference locally. And importantly — many of these funds are there to be used by communities like ours.

What You Might Be Able to Fund...Depending on the scheme, funding could support: -

Community facilities and improvements.Youth projects and activities. Environmental initiatives. Local events and wellbeing programmes. Equipment or small capital projects.

If you’re part of a group — or even just thinking about starting a project — it’s well worth having a look. Sometimes the biggest barrier isn’t funding itself… it’s simply knowing where to look. Please feel free to share this post with any groups or individuals who might benefit.
