Apologies for the late post everyone — I’ve only just received the update and wanted to share it as quickly as possible to help keep residents informed Carmarthenshire County Council has issued a temporary road closure notice for part of Elkington Road, Burry Port (SA16 0AU), from its junction with Broadawel for approximately 50 metres heading northbound.

The closure is required to allow Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water to carry out repairs to a leaking sluice valve. Expected dates:From Monday 25th May 2026 Expected duration: up to 4 days.

Diversion routes: Northbound traffic will be diverted via: Elkington Road → New Street → Ashddu → Mansel Street → returning north of the closure.

Southbound traffic will follow the reverse route. Pedestrian access and vehicle access for residents will be maintained wherever possible throughout the works. As always, please allow a little extra travel time if you’re passing through the area and take care around temporary traffic management and work crews.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding while these essential repair works are completed
