I was absolutely delighted to see confirmation that Cefn Sidan Beach has once again retained its prestigious Blue Flag Award status for 2026 — continuing its incredible reputation as one of the very best beaches not only in Wales, but anywhere in the world.

Cefn Sidan holds a truly remarkable place in Welsh coastal history, having been the very first beach in Wales to achieve Blue Flag status when the awards were introduced in 1988 — and now remaining the longest continual holder of the award in Wales, having received the accolade an incredible 38 times.

Our beautiful eight-mile stretch of golden sands, backed by stunning dunes and the woodlands of Pembrey Country Park, continues to attract visitors from across Wales and beyond. It is not difficult to understand why so many people love spending time here, whether walking the beach, cycling through the forest, enjoying family activities, exploring the history of the coastline, or simply appreciating the peace and beauty of the area.

The Blue Flag Award recognises not only excellent water quality, but also environmental standards, safety, cleanliness, accessibility, education, and ongoing site management. Achieving and maintaining that standard year after year is a tremendous achievement and reflects the hard work of everyone involved behind the scenes.

A huge thank you and congratulations to all the staff, volunteers, organisations, and partners who help care for and maintain this very special part of our community. Cefn Sidan and Pembrey Country Park remain something we can all be incredibly proud of. 💙
