It was a real privilege to spend time with you all and to see first hand the warmth, care, and dedication that makes this group so special.
Ty Golau has been supporting people with slight memory problems, Alzheimer’s, and dementia type illnesses since 2009 in Llanelli and 2011 in Kidwelly. What began with just one service user has grown into a thriving, welcoming community with more than 45 people attending weekly in Kidwelly alone — a testament to the trust families place in the team and the impact of the work they do.
A safe, stimulating space Ty Golau provides a supportive environment where people can take part in mentally stimulating activities shown to help slow the ageing process. The atmosphere is full of encouragement, laughter, and connection — and it’s clear how much it means to those who attend.
Support for carers too One thing that really stood out is how much carers value the sessions as well. Many say they enjoy them just as much as the person they care for, finding comfort, respite, and a sense of community.
Real impact, real change Families, care homes, and service users consistently report improvements in mood, motivation, engagement, and social confidence. You can feel that positivity the moment you walk through the door.
Referrals welcome Ty Golau accepts personal enquiries and referrals from Local Health Boards, care homes, and partner organisations including Alzheimer’s Society, Age Cymru, and Crossroads.
If you or someone you know could benefit from a warm, supportive, and engaging space like this, I’d wholeheartedly encourage you to get in touch with the team.
Thank you again to everyone at Ty Golau — your work is making a real difference in our communities.
