From what I can see, Carmarthenshire County Council had previously carried out what looks to have been an emergency temporary repair — which is fairly standard practice initially to make an area safe as quickly as possible. However, it now appears that the issue has either opened up again or that the earlier repair has not fully resolved the underlying problem.
I have reported this directly to CCC as an emergency matter and stressed the seriousness of the situation, particularly given the potential risks if left any longer than absolutely necessary.
Looking at the condition of the road surface, I do feel this will likely require more than simply filling and patching the affected area. It appears the section may need to be stripped back properly, with foundational support and backing inserted beneath before the surface can then be fully relaid to ensure a more permanent and safe repair.
I haven’t attached the usual photographs on this occasion, as I believe those have already been widely shared by others. This post was more about reassuring residents that the matter has now been properly reported and escalated as an urgent concern.
Thank you again to everyone who reached out and highlighted the issue so quickly — it really is appreciated and shows the importance of communities looking out for one another
As always, please continue reporting urgent issues when you see them, and feel free to keep me updated directly.
