What a wonderful evening at Glan-y-Môr School’s Prize Giving. It was a real joy to be there, celebrating the achievements of so many talented and hardworking students. Nights like these remind us just how much potential lives within our community, and how bright the future looks when young people are supported to shine.
I was especially honoured to sponsor and present a brand-new award this year: The Evans Mod Award for Inspiration to Others.
This award means a great deal to me personally. It was created to celebrate—and keep alive—the beliefs and core values of Mr. Rowland Evans, the former Head of the History department at Glan-y-Môr, known affectionately to generations of pupils as Evans Mod.
He inspired thousands of students throughout his teaching career, myself included. His passion for learning, his belief in young people, and his ability to make every student feel seen and capable left a mark that has lasted far beyond the classroom. I’m proud to have called him a friend.
Well done, Sir—your legacy continues to guide and uplift.
Congratulations to all the award winners, their families, and the dedicated staff who support them every day. Our community has every reason to be proud.
