As we look ahead to the Senedd election on 7 May 2026, many people across Wales have said they don’t feel fully confident that they have all the information they need to vote. Recent polling shows that over half of people aged 16+ in Wales feel unsure about key parts of the process, and around a quarter say this uncertainty could make them less likely to vote.
That’s a real concern — because every voice in our community deserves to be heard.
A New One‑Stop Website for Voters…
To help address this, the Electoral Management Board for Wales will be launching a brand‑new website in March 2026: vote.wales.
This site is designed to make things clearer and easier for everyone. It will include: -
• How to vote (including different voting methods).
• What the Senedd does and why it matters.
• Who the candidates are in your area.
• What they stand for.
• How the new voting system works.
• Trusted, accessible information all in one place.
The aim is simple: to help every voter feel confident, informed, and empowered.
Why This Matters
The polling also showed: -
• Only 16% of people feel they have all the information they need to make their decision.
• Only 13% feel confident they know where to find information about the changes happening at this election.
• 35% aren’t confident about finding information on candidates in their area.
• 28% aren’t confident about finding trusted election information at all.
People told researchers they currently rely on places like local news websites, the Electoral Commission, council websites, party websites, social media, and third‑party tools — but it’s clear that having everything in one trusted place will make a big difference.

A Message from the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru
Shereen Williams MBE OStJ, Chief Executive, summed it up powerfully when she said: -
“Everybody should have the chance to vote confidently at this year’s Senedd election… Giving people the information they need and building up their voting confidence is why we are launching vote.wales in March this year.”
I believe it is important that everyone has access to clear, accessible information — especially with so many changes happening this year. I’ll continue sharing updates as we get closer to May, and once vote.wales goes live, I’ll highlight key features to help you make the most of it.
Every vote matters. Every voice matters. And making sure people feel confident in the process is a vital part of strengthening our democracy.
