TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS

The full Town Council meets on the third Wednesday of every month (except for August) and may meet more regularly if there is a need to do so. 

All members may attend and the Council meeting is Chaired by the Mayor or the Deputy Mayor in his/her absence.

The Town Council has overall responsibility for the policies, strategies and major decisions taken to meet the role and duties of the Council. 

It establishes Standing Committees at each annual meeting and delegates power to them to deal with specific areas of work.

There are a further 6 scheduled meetings. Consisting of committee and sub-committees. These are as below….

Facilities and Assets Committee.

Meeting on the first Wednesday of the month.

Its role is to manage all the Council’s properties and assets including all rentals of rooms/halls, the Cemetery, the Bowls facility, all parks and open spaces as well as all children’s play areas and to look after all pathways, public lights etc. that are the responsibility of the Town Council.

Terms Of Reference

Regeneration & Community Engagement Committee.

Meeting on the second Wednesday of the month.

The main role of this committee is to oversee action to improve the communities wellbeing and to instigate and deliver, either directly or through others, projects and activities that will improve the quality of life of our community.

Terms of Reference

Finance, Governance & Personnel Committee.

Meeting on the 2nd Thursday of the month

It will oversee the Council’s adherence to the approved financial regulations and the Council’s effective financial management.

It will ensure that the Council meets all good governance requirements and that processes and procedures are fit for purpose.

It will oversee the production and delivery of effective Council employment policies and procedures.

Terms of Reference

Planning Committee.

Meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of the month

Its role is to examine all planning applications in the community and to supply recommended feedback of the Town Councils views on to the County Council.

Terms of Reference

Burial sub-Committee.

This is a sub-Committee of the Facilities & Assets Committee. 

Its role is to oversee the work of the Council in relation to the cemetery.

Meeting on the Tuesday of the month as required

Terms of Reference

Events & Marketing sub-Committee.

This is a sub-Committee which handles the delegated responsibilities concerning events and marketing from each of the Committees.

It’s role is to oversee the work of the Council in relation to the planning and delivery of events and the marketing of both events and facilities.

Meeting on the Wednesday of the month as required.
