My next constituency surgery is on Thursday, the 30th of April, between 10-00am and 12pm at the Ashburnham Hotel — and I’d love for you to pop in.

I wanted to share something really positive that could make a genuine difference to many of our fantastic local groups here in Carmarthenshire. The Asda Foundation offers grant funding to small, grassroots community organisations—the very groups that sit at the heart of our communities and do so much good, often quietly behind the scenes.

I’ll be honest—this was something I wasn’t fully aware of myself, but it’s a fantastic initiative that definitely deserves to be shared more widely. Veterans and Armed Forces personnel living in Wales can access free swimming sessions through the Welsh Government Armed Forces Free Swim (AFFS) Scheme. After double-checking locally, I can confirm this is available right here in Carmarthenshire

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends initiative is all about increasing people’s understanding of dementia and inspiring everyone to make a difference for people affected by the condition in their communities. Whether you attend a face-to-face or virtual Dementia Friends Session or watch our short online video, Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help.

HMRC has recently clarified the rules surrounding state pension payments, particularly in response to questions about payment statements and tax deductions. It’s a useful reminder for residents to review their state pension arrangements and ensure they understand how payments are made.

Important changes to statutory sick pay are now in place, bringing meaningful support to millions of workers across the UK. Under the new rules, workers will now receive sick pay from the first day of illness, rather than having to wait until day four.
