I am pleased to support the Autism Awareness Month activities taking place throughout April at Burry Port Community Primary School. To help promote this important work, I have put together a short compilation highlighting the school’s programme of events and its wider commitment to inclusion and understanding.

Whether Easter is a time of faith, reflection, family, or simply enjoying the brighter days of spring, I hope it brings something positive to each and every one of you. It’s a lovely moment in the year to pause, connect with those around us, and appreciate the sense of community we share here in Pembrey and beyond.

An official Flood Alert has been issued by Natural Resources Wales covering the Carmarthenshire coastline between Pendine and Hendy (east of Llanelli). The alert is in place due to Storm Dave, which is expected to bring large waves and coastal swell around the evening high tide on Saturday 4th April. As a result, flooding of low-lying land and roads is possible.

April marks the Month of the Military Child, a time dedicated to recognising the vital role played by children within Armed Forces families. These young people often experience unique challenges, including frequent relocations, changes in education, and periods of separation from parents due to service commitments. Despite this, they consistently demonstrate remarkable resilience, adaptability, and strength.

April brings a wide and varied programme of events across Carmarthenshire, offering something for residents and visitors of all ages. From Easter-themed family activities and community events to theatre productions, live music, markets and festivals, there is a strong calendar of activity taking place throughout the county.

Residents across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys are being encouraged to sign up to Dyfed-Powys Connects, a free email messaging service from Dyfed-Powys Police. This service is designed to help keep communities informed, engaged, and involved in local policing.

StreetSafe is a service that allows residents to report safety concerns in public places anonymously. It provides an opportunity to highlight environmental or situational issues that may not meet the threshold of a crime but still impact people’s confidence and wellbeing.

Residents and visitors are advised of an ongoing emergency incident in Lady Street, Kidwelly, following a significant fire at a residential property in the early hours of this morning. The fire is reported to have started at approximately 3:30am, with emergency services responding quickly and remaining on scene. Current situation: -

It’s always positive to see local organisations continuing to grow and create opportunities within our community. Pembrey Circuit is currently preparing for an exciting season ahead and is looking to expand its team with a number of part-time roles.

Dementia affects many individuals and families across our communities. However, a lack of understanding can often lead to people feeling isolated or excluded. Dementia Friends aims to change this by helping people better understand the condition and how small, everyday actions can make a meaningful difference.

As we approach the Easter period, I wanted to share an important service update to help residents plan ahead and avoid any missed collections. Carmarthenshire County Council has confirmed that waste and recycling collection days will be temporarily revised over the Easter bank holiday period to ensure services continue to operate efficiently.
