Could Empty Buildings in Our Communities Be Given a New Purpose?
Empty properties can sometimes become more than just an eyesore — they can attract vandalism, anti-social behaviour and fall into serious disrepair over time. But with the right support, many of these buildings could instead become safer, protected and even brought back into positive community use.

Residents across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire are being advised that several wards at hospitals within the area have temporarily closed due to cases of norovirus.
A fantastic initiative from Burry Port Community Primary School as they celebrate National Numeracy Day and continue their excellent work supporting children’s learning both in school and at home.
Numeracy plays such an important role in everyday life — from budgeting and shopping, to cooking, travel, problem-solving, and making informed decisions. Building confidence with numbers from an early age helps give children valuable skills that will support them throughout their education and into adult life.
Football has an incredible way of bringing people together — whether that’s at home, in the pub, at local clubs, or gathered with friends and family to enjoy the match.
Major tournaments create moments of excitement, pride, and shared community spirit. But it’s also important to remember that the experience of watching football is not always the same for everyone. Sometimes comments, “banter,” or behaviour that may seem harmless to some can make others feel uncomfortable or excluded. That’s why I think this upcoming online session from could be a really positive and worthwhile discussion to become part of.

COMMUNITY UPDATE — CHANGES TO BIN COLLECTIONS OVER THE SPRING BANK HOLIDAY
Carmarthenshire County Council has confirmed that recycling and waste collections will change slightly next week due to the Spring Bank Holiday on Monday 25 May.
Flood Alert-Carmarthenshire coast
There is a risk of flooding as a result of the combination of the high tides and weather conditions from 8.45pm on 19 May 2026. Flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected. Be careful on beaches, coastal footpaths, roads, low lying land and close to the estuary. We will continue to monitor the situation.
